Pupil Premium Strategy 2016 - 2017

Pupil Premium Strategy 2016 – 2017

At The Berkeley Academy we believe every child is unique and special. Our Growth mindset and reflective approach ensures we have the highest expectations of all children and that no one is left behind. All members of staff, governors and teaching assistants accept responsibility for ‘socially disadvantaged’ pupils and are committed to meeting their pastoral, social and academic needs within a caring environment.

In order to meet the above requirements, the Governing Body of The Berkeley Academy will ensure that provision is made which secures the teaching and learning opportunities that meet the needs of all pupils. Our priority in the academic year 2016-2017 will be focused on diminishing the difference between children in receipt of the Pupil Premium Grant and those who are not.

We will ensure that:

  • A high profile is given to pupil premium pupils
  • All staff are accountable for the progress of pupil premium children.

Funding 2016-2017

Funding for this year falls into 3 key areas:

1. Learning and the Curriculum

  • Provide a range of proven TA led interventions which include – FFT maths, FFT literacy, ELS and Speech and Language.
  • Small group revision sessions
  • TA support in class during the morning sessions to allow for smaller group sizes and targeted support.
  • Provision of a Speech and Language therapist to assess, plan and deliver individual care plans

2. Enrichment within and beyond the curriculum

  • Subsidised school trips
  • Subsidised residential trips in year 4 and year 6
  • A wide range of after school clubs

3. Social and Emotional Support

  • One to one review sessions in which each child meets with their class teacher to discuss their progress, set new termly targets and overcome any barriers/concerns they may have.

We will review this strategy and its impact in July 2017.
