Friday 15th May 2020

Good morning everyone happy Friday! Only one more day of work and then you can enjoy a well earned rest over the weekend.

Today in English, you've got some comprehension questions to answer about the poem you've been reading this week. In maths you've got some word problems about Millie the dog, Mr Nixon and Miss Palin to answer! As always try your best and make us proud.

I hope you like my reading photo! I sat in Olive's paddling pool to read my book, it was far too cold for any water though! It's Olive's first birthday today and this is one of her presents so I hope she doesn't mind that her mummy has been having fun in it already!

Anyway have a great day!

P.S Knock, knock!

who's there?

Abby!

Abby who?

Abby birthday to you!

Thursday 14th May

Good morning little buddies! The sun has been shining but it’s a little chill so make sure you keep wrapped up when you’re outside!

In literacy today you’re going to be working with rhyming words and in maths we’re practising our subtraction within 20. Remember to do what you can and keep posting on seesaw. We’ve loved seeing your reading challenge photos and I know I can’t wait until we see Mrs Kofon’s on Friday!

I was impressed by Harry’s scrap veg picture on seesaw too so thought I’d share the my celery’s progress!

Keep smiling and keep us up to date!

Here’s today’s joke,

What animal is always at cricket matches?

A bat!

Good morning Year 1! Today is a very special day for Mrs Moores and her family! It's baby Evelyn's 1st Birthday! So let's wish her a huge Happy Birthday from all of Year 1! Maybe you could draw her a birthday picture as a surprise and post it onto Seesaw!

I hope you're having a great week so far, it's been lovely to see what you've all been up to, I've especially liked to see you writing about your families and where you live!

I've also really enjoyed seeing you all reading in crazy places! I'm still thinking about where to read my book so watch this space!

For today's English work you've got a lovely poem to read and copy in your neatest handwriting and in maths you're going to be adding by making 10. Have fun!

P.S. Why wasn't the teddy bear very hungry?

...because he was stuffed!!

Tuesday 12th May

Good morning little buddies! Hope you’re still working hard and still smiling. It’s been lovely to see some of the things you’ve done over the weekend, even if the weather has been quite a bit colder!

Maths and literacy are still in their usual places but I would love to see you posting some images on seesaw of your reading challenge!

Here is Millie the dog and I reading our bed time story The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark. Has anyone read it?

Oh, and before I forget here’s today’s joke.

Why was the dog able to jump higher than the building?

Because buildings can’t jump!

Stay safe,

Year 1 Team.

Monday 11th May 2020

Good morning everyone!

It looks like you've had a fantastic weekend celebrating VE day. We were so impressed with all the decorations and baking!

This week your literacy work is based on a poem called 'There's No Place Like Home', today you will be creating a scrapbook all about your family! Your maths work today is looking at part-whole models, remember you can choose what work suits you.

As you know, reading is SO important to your learning and you should try and read to someone everyday. This week we are setting you a challenge to read your book in as many different, crazy, inventive places you can think of! Ask someone to take your picture and post it on SeeSaw for us all to see.

Don't forget to tell someone today's joke...

What do librarians take with them when they go fishing?

...a bookworm!
