Cultural Capital

Through the learning of history at the Berkeley the pupils will engage and acquire the key knowledge and cultural capital that is necessary to be successful in life after primary school.  They will gain skills and knowledge that will enable and encourage them to be understanding and educated citizens through a thoughtful process of introducing them to a variety of cultures, civilisations and peoples from the past. This will foster a understanding and value for humanities creativity, expression and achievement. The history curriculum will encourage children to engage in a variety of different media which will allow them to confidently explore different cultures whilst providing them with the skills to sate their own curiosity outside of school. This will allow our pupils to further develop this love for learning and understanding of the world after they leave the Berkeley and move further along their educational journey.
