KiVa

KiVa at The Berkeley Academy

Kiva is an evidence-based program to prevent and reduce bullying.  It improves children's well-being and academic motivation.

It's aims are:

  • To reduce bullying
  • To prevent new bullying incidents from occurring
  • To minimise the negative effects caused by bullying.

KiVa was developed at the University of Turku, Finland with funding from the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, implemented by Bangor University, North Wales and is a common programme in many Cheshire Primary Schools.

The KiVa Team

Each KiVa School has a group of adults working at the school that investigates emerging cases of bullying in cooperation with the class teachers.

Our KiVa Team consists of Miss Slater, Mr Birchenough, Mrs Veale and Mr Dobson (Governor).  We also have our Year 6 KiVa ambassadors who support children during play times.

Parent KiVa catch up

Each term we will be holding a KiVa catch up for parents.  This term it will be held on Tuesday February 4th 2025 at 3.30pm. If you feel that you would like to talk to the KiVa team to discuss any form of bullying that your child may unfortunately be encountering please come and chat to one of the team.
