Summer Term 2022

Summer Term

During the Summer term we will be using some different texts to support our learning starting with 'The King Who Banned The Dark'.  We will be working on writing our own letters to the King persuading him not to ban the dark and also retelling the story accurately using the writing features we have been learning about.

We will also be learning all about the Great Fire of London through both our reading and history lessons.  Our focus will be on answering questions such as 'Why did the fire spread so quickly?', 'What could have been done to prevent the fire?' and 'How did London change after the fire?'.

In maths, we will be continuing to learn all about fractions including:

  • recognising 1/2, 1/4, 1/3 and 3/4
  • finding fractions of objects, shapes and amounts
  • equivalence of 1/2 and 2/4

We will then move on to learn about properties of shapes:

  • identifying, sorting and drawing 2D shapes
  • identifying, sorting and drawing 3D shapes
  • finding lines of symmetry
  • making patterns with 2D and 3D shapes

Then we will be looking at measurement including:

  • length and height
  • time
  • mass and capacity
  • temperature
