Friday 26th June 2020

Good morning Year 1 happy Friday! We hope you’ve enjoyed the hot weather so far this week, today looks like it’s going to be a little cooler which I’m very happy about!

In English you are going to be  making your own superhero book using your work from Wednesday and Thursday and in Maths you are going to be comparing numbers.

Have a great day and enjoy your weekend!

P.S.

What do you call a pig that knows karate?

...a pork chop!!

Thursday 25th of June

Good morning little buddies! It has been very hot the last few days so make sure you are wearing nice light clothes to school. Remember you don't HAVE to wear your uniform if you don't want to. If you want to wear something a little cooler then its ok.

What you need to remember on these hot days is to apply sun screen before you come to school in the morning, bring a hat if you have one and make sure you have fresh water in your bottle!

Today in literacy you are writing sentences about your comic strip, what your heroes are doing and adding more description. In maths we are comparing numbers up to 100. I have been very impressed by all the work you've been doing this week!

Stay safe and keep smiling if we don't see you in school. We hope everyone at home is ok and we are just as proud of you as we are of the children we see every day in school.

Wednesday 24th June 2020

Good morning everyone it’s Wednesday again! I hope you’ve all enjoyed your week so far. I’m very excited this morning, as I get to see some of your smiley faces back in the classroom again!
We’ve got another day of fun activities planned for you, in English, you are going to be planning your own superhero stories (I’m looking forward to hearing all about the superheroes you’ve created) and in maths, you’re task is to partition numbers into tens and ones.

Don’t forget to share your fantastic work from home on Seesaw, we will share some work from the Year 1 classrooms too!
I’ve set you a little morning challenge below to get you going before you start your work it’s called name 5 things.

Have a great day and stay safe in the sun!

P.S.

What do you call a computer superhero?

...a screensaver!

Tuesday 23rd June

It was wonderful to welcome back some of you yesterday. Seeing your smiling faces really made my day and we were so shocked to see how much some of you have grown, how many teeth you have lost and how much you have improved your skills, especially your handwriting!

In literacy today we are writing sentences to describe our superheroes. I would love to see those who are working from home post their pictures on seesaw as I loved seeing the drawings in class.

In maths we are counting on and using numbers up to 100! I was impressed by the knowledge of numbers up to 50 yesterday so i'm excited by what we will achieve today.

Please keep positive and stay smiling. We are so very proud of everything you have achieved during the lock down and we have missed you all enormously, its been a delight to have you back in our classrooms, even if its not quite the same.

Monday 22nd June 2020

Good morning everyone!

We are so excited this morning as we are welcoming back some of you to school! We are really looking forward to teaching you again in our newly arranged classrooms. Those of you that are staying home please make sure you keep sharing your photos and we will share them with the rest of your class in school. Children at home and those of you at school will be completing the work under our usual maths and literacy tabs. We are starting a superhero theme in literacy as we think you have all been superheroes working so hard over the past few months!

Who managed to make an umbrella for Ted? Which material did you use? Did he stay dry? We have had some very wet weather over the past few days I know Ted would be very grateful for an umbrella. Some of you may have made a rain gauge too! How much has it rained over the past few days? For those of you that haven't completed the experiments yet you can still access all the resources you need under the topic-science tab. I have set another science lesson for you to have a go at too. You will be naming and sorting a variety of materials.

Have a fantastic week!
