Home Page

Today is all about selecting money and choosing which coins to use.  In the main activity, page 2 is the tricky task, page 3 is the trickier task and page 4 is the trickiest task.  As usual there is a challenge to have a go at and a game to play.  Have fun!

Let's play shops!  Collect some items from around your house, write them down on a piece of paper and ask a grown up to write down how much they cost.  Your job is to then choose an item and say or write down which coins you would need to use to pay for them exactly.  For example, if it cost 67p then you would need 50p + 10p + 5p + 2p.  If you have some play money or real coins at home then you could use those; if not just write the coins down.  If there is an adult or sibling at home who has some free time then you can take it in turns to be the shopkeeper and customer!

Different ways:

How many different ways can you find to make 42p?  Find as many different combinations of coins as you can to make 42p.  Make sure you don't repeat ways by just writing them in a different order.
