Writing an Introduction

Today we are writing an introduction for our non-chronological reports. We have written non-chronological reports before in class when we were learning about apes. We know that a good report should start with an introduction. Let's have a look at the one from Monday's reading comprehension:

This is a great introduction because it tells you a bit about what Brazil is. It asks the reader a rhetorical question and finishes with an exclamation. Your task today is to write your own introduction. You will need to include and answer the following questions in your introduction. Remember to use yesterdays research sheet to help you!

  • Title
  • Ask the reader a question to get their attention.
  • Where is Brazil?
  • What is the population?
  • What is the currency?
  • What language do they speak?
  • Which countries are next to Brazil?
  • You might also want to include a 'did you know fact'

Once you have finished, check your writing for basic errors. Check that you have included capital letters for the names of places.

Good luck!
