Wednesday

Today we are going to have a look at different types of sentences:

  • Statements
  • Questions
  • Commands
  • Exclamations

Statements are sentences which tell you something. They end with a full stop.

Questions are sentences that ask you something. They end with a question mark.

Commands are sentences that tell you to do something. They are often urgent or angry and can sometimes be very short.

Exclamations are sentences that begin with 'what' or 'how'. They are full sentences, include a verb and end with an exclamation mark.

Take a look at the posters and they will help to jog your memory about what each one is. We have been over this before in school, but a very long time ago now.

Your activity today is to complete the sheet below.
