Term of office- 9.10.2020- 08.10.2028
First appointed 24.09.2020
I consider it a privilege to be a member of the Local Governing Board at The Berkeley Primary Academy. I joined the team in September 2020 and I am currently the Chair of the Governing Board. I live locally and my granddaughter attends the school.
In addition to my leadership and general involvement in the governing board, I am the link governor for Writing and Spelling. I meet regularly with the Lead teachers for Writing and Phonics, reporting back to the other governors. I also check on the well-being of all staff and pupils. I sit on the Headteacher Performance Management Panel.
I retired as headteacher of a Cheshire primary school several years ago, after 39 years working in primary education. In addition to this role, I was an associate lecturer in education at Manchester Metropolitan University for 11 years, focussing on trainees embarking upon their Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
Post retirement from my role as headteacher, I worked part-time as an Education Consultant, supporting schools with improvement and development and conducting school reviews.
I firmly believe that each pupil is entitled to a rich and exciting curriculum that is wholly inclusive; a curriculum that inspires and engages pupils, leading directly to improvement. I am committed to ensuring that each child reaches their full potential and that expectations and standards in school remain high. It is a priority to ensure that our children are safe, secure and happy at school and that every child’s needs are met.
In my spare time I enjoy running, walking, travelling, cooking and entertaining friends. As a pianist myself, I have a passion for music, particularly providing inspiring and exciting musical opportunities for children.
