Staff Governor

I feel very privileged to be part of The Berkeley Academy governors as a staff governor.  I have been a teacher since 2002 and joined The Berkeley Academy in 2017.  I have enjoyed working in lots of different schools and have experience in teaching all year groups.  I started my teaching career in Liverpool where my passion for early education started, I was lucky enough to be part of opening a brand-new nursery and developing the new early years curriculum. My love for sport in education and developing those early years skills opened up a fantastic opportunity for me to be part of the brand-new School Sports Coordinators Programme.

In 2004 I met my husband and made the move to Cheshire where I have continued my teaching career. It was my passion for early years education and development that eventually brought me back to the classroom.  I was lucky enough to secure an early year’s post with a resource primary school attached.  Here I was able to develop my skills in children with additional needs and recognise the importance of early intervention and support.

Apart from bringing my own children into the world and watching them grow, learn and become the wonderful teenage boys that they are, my greatest achievement in my career has to be when I was given the opportunity to work at the Willows Nursery and develop and nurture it, so it was ready to part of The Berkeley Academy.  My passion for early years education, special educational needs and giving children the best start in life was my drive to making it into the nursery it is. It was a very proud moment when it became The Berkeley Nursery and the hard work and dedication of the team had paid off.

As I continue my teaching career I would like to continue being at the heart of the classroom and using the skills I have learnt along the way to give the children in my care the best education I can.
