I’m thrilled to be joining the local governing board for The Berkeley Academy (appointed May 2024)

I am the link governor for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and I would like to be part of creating a culture that motivates and is ambitious for all. My passion is social and educational inclusion and I plan to support and evaluate school improvement plans to provide the very best for our pupils and the school community.

I’ve always been fascinated by child development and the impact of learning experiences on later outcomes. Witnessing the resilience and potential for growth in children and young people, especially those who might be facing personal difficulties, has inspired me to pursue a career in educational psychology.

I currently work for the Local Authority within the SEND team and I will be starting a position within the Educational Psychology Service in September 2024. I hope my wealth of experience and drive to improve outcomes for children will have a positive impact on the governance of the school.

I also have a particular invested interest in The Berkeley Academy because my 3 children attend the school – in the nursery, year 1 and year 5. We live locally and like to spend time at our family caravan in Anglesey.

I look forward to being part of the governing board with my active commitment to learning, engaging with, and promoting issues of equality, inclusion, and celebration of diversity in all aspects of The Berkeley Academy.
