Co-opted Governor

I have served as a governor in both local primary and secondary schools, since 2014. I started with the Berkeley governing body several years ago and then left the board to become a Director of the Chancery Trust. This role gave me invaluable experience but I missed the direct involvement with Berkeley and so I re-joined the governing body in 2022.

I am passionate about children receiving the best possible start in life and school plays such an instrumental part in that journey. This is what motivates me to work with the governing body in ensuring that the children at the Berkeley are receiving a broad and balanced diet in the curriculum on offer and that the school strives for the highest standards.

My two daughters attended Berkeley previously and loved their time at the school.

As part of my function on the governing body, I am the link governor for Early Years. Within that role I meet regularly with the subject lead for the school’s early years provision and then feedback to the governing body. I really enjoy visiting the school and seeing the children thriving, not just in an educational sense but also socially and emotionally.

In my ‘day job’ I am senior partner of a local firm of solicitors. My experience in the legal profession enables me to bring an analytical yet practical approach to governor meetings. And as a business owner and manager I understand the pressures of leading a team. This affords me a great deal of empathy for the challenges faced by our Head teacher and senior leaders.

In my spare time I love everything about the theatre and get involved with local amateur drama and dance as much as possible. I also love catching up with family and friends.
